About Kura Kura Boutique Hotel

kura design villas uvita costa rica

Other awards we've won include Best Feature from both the Caribbean Tourism Organization and the Magazine Association of the Southeast. If Kurá Design Villas has any flaw to be found, it’s that the rough, rugged road makes it damn near impossible to get to. Thankfully, the hotel will arrange a 4×4 pickup nearby for those who don’t want to drive. Locally sourced, organic ingredients are at the chef-centric heart of the menu, but carnivores can also savor a thick, juicy steak. The servers are attentive and remarkably prompt for the tropics, and the suggested wine pairings were wonderful. The concept of “eco luxury” may seem like a new development, but its roots date back to the glamping safaris wealthy Americans and Europeans took in the early 1900s.

But the concept of communing with nature without giving up the comforts of home is more popular than ever. Of course there’s a spa and a noteworthy menu which includes homemade bread and croissants, locally caught fish and vegetables from their own hydroponic greenhouse. The chef’s traditional white jacket has even been “Kura’d” with cheeky strips of jaguar-print fabric (Kura means “jaguar” in the Boruca language) sewn in along the sides. It took three years of planning, designing and building but Martin and Alejandra pretty much created that initial vision. Martin is an architect who wanted a project in which he could control every aspect of design from the buildings to the furniture to, well, the hangers (yes, he designed those too). Alejandra is a biologist who wanted to be in nature every single day.

Our Modern, Tropical Resort

Master Suites are our most exclusive suite category with 140sq.m (1500sq.ft) of private living space. Located high on the mountain top, removed from the others, the Master Suites boast maximum space, Kura-style plunge pools, and the most impressive of ocean views. Each of the one-bedroom villas is glass-fronted and surrounded by greenery, with views of the ocean on the horizon. Built on an impressive mountain ridge, Kura's tropical minimalist architecture provides a luxurious jungle experience with breathtaking Pacific Ocean views. Kura Design Villas is a tiny boutique, adults-only, hotel with just eight detached villas, all beautifully designed with ocean views from their private balcony or porch.

Simply Stunning. Open All Night Long.

The spa is run by San Jose native Adriana Blanto, an alternative medicine specialist who uses only all-natural oils. She was arguably among the most talented masseuses we’ve met. On our special night we were treated to drinks, dessert, and a romantic deep tub bath for two. They left us alone in the spa, with the floor-to-ceiling windows open to allow the mesmerizing sounds of the surrounding rainforest into the candlelit room.

Lisa Yes, we think being size inclusive is related to sustainability. As women, our bodies go through so many changes in our lifetime. We hope that HDH can be a brand present for those changes for our customers. And that they can use our circular apparel project, The Sustain Shop, when they outgrow or move on from a piece. I’m really interested in creating versatile clothing that appeals to women living their lives, outside the bounds of trends.

A Conversation with Lisa Hackwith of Hackwith Design House

I made the dress out of white linen, and I got to make something that I really loved. There is actually a gown in the new line that has some similarities to it. Hopefully more of the bigger brands that don’t have shareholders to answer to will continue to lead the way in how the fashion industry can address its serious environmental and ethical problems. The eclectic 95-room property reflects the brand’s signature California quirkiness as well as an elevated European influence defined by an unexpected medley of pattern and texture. “I want it to feel layered and I also don’t want to make them too pretty,” Brosh says. “I try to create some reverence, even if it’s very bespoke.” Public spaces pop with eccentricities ranging from wallpapered ceilings and custom millwork in the café and lounge to custom tiles and a Moroccan aesthetic on the patio.

An Interview with Slow Fashion Designer Lisa Hackwith

Each dress is ethically made with OEKO-TEX certified fibers and nontoxic dyes, and if you don’t see your size listed, Loud Bodies will also make a custom order just for you—free of charge! Add a pop of color or pattern to your day with Kemi Telford’s dresses. This UK-based designer uses African wax paints inspired by her upbringing in Nigeria.

Meet Hackwith Design House, the Fashion Epicenter of St. Paul, Minnesota

We have some new wide-legged jumpers coming out on June 8th that almost appear to be dresses but are actually jumpers, and I think those are perfect for a wedding or dressier event. On CONSIDERATE SHOPPING  (L) At this point, my closet is primarily Hackwith Design House. I strive to be a designer that stands behind what I make, so I make sure to love each piece I create, which results in a pretty full closet. When looking for pieces for my home, I try to find items made by people who feel the same way about their pieces.

I chatted with the designer and Hackwith director of operations, Erin Husted, about their newly-minted studio space, the stories behind the brand and its Makers Alongside series, and what’s next for the ambitious designer. My first big project without a pattern was my own wedding dress. I couldn’t find a dress that really felt like me, so I decided to make my own. I’d only been sewing for a few months, so it was a big undertaking, but luckily, my client was very forgiving.

From there, it’s a matter of retraining your brain to plan for the true cost of clothing and being willing to invest in timeless pieces that you can wear over and over again. For our part, we are hoping to make it easier for our customers to invest in sustainable pieces with the launch of our new project The Sustain Shop on June 4th. People are able to send in their old HDH pieces for a $20 gift card (per piece) and shop gently used and one-of-a-kind samples at discounted prices. I was a one-woman show when I first launched the website, so I wasn’t able to produce more than a limited number of pieces each Monday. From my studio art background, I knew artists often did limited edition prints, so that inspired me to do some limited edition pieces.

You can follow Lisa on Instagram at @lisahackwith or her company at @hackwithdesign. The people here are so welcoming and supportive of the creative arts. They really go above and beyond to support their local business owners and creative entrepreneurs, which makes Minneapolis’s shops and restaurants so unique and varied.

After about four months of selling out of each limited edition piece, I was able to afford a seamstress to work with me. I also found my business partner, Erin, who was able to take on the business side of the operation. Today, Hackwith Design House offers a wide collection of timeless designs and quality pieces that afford women to quite literally wear their values on their sleeves. Passionate about textiles since she was first gifted a sewing machine by her mother, she launched Hackwith Design House to produce limited edition fashion at affordable prices.

Ethically sewn in small batches, Telford brings her visions to life by partnering with manufacturers in the UK, China, India, and Nigeria. Many dresses come with specific measurements (e.g., 52” length) versus a generic size. You can also find samples at discounted prices, and Telford has international shipping options. Flowy and flirty with pleats and pockets, this cotton house dress effortlessly transitions from work to home and vice versa.

We've grown to offer additional lines including Core Collection, Swim, Basics, and Plus. Caylon Hackwith is a photographer, videographer, and art director. He began his career in art galleries and post-production studios fabricating large scale artworks for international exhibitions. He now produces images for architects, designers, hotels, and brands, as well as maintaining his own studio practice. He is perpetually seeking for a clean, minimal aesthetic that communicates beautifully and effectively. Although, he will always have a soft spot for the wild, bucolic landscape of his native Montana.

Being surrounded by such an amazing community makes it the perfect place to start a small business. MATE the Label is clean from seed to skin, 100 percent of the time. Made sustainably in Los Angeles, the brand only uses nontoxic, natural, and organic materials like organic cotton and linen.

With cozy essentials, seasonal colors, kids’ and extended sizing, and build-your-own sets, there’s truly something for everyone. (And when you’re done, MATE has a take-back program!) All locally made, within 15 miles of its LA office. On DRESSING UP (L) I love wearing jumpers to dressier occasions. It's such a fun way to dress up that is not a typical cocktail dress.

While a small percentage of LACAUSA’s goods are crafted in Mexico, a whopping 95 percent of its fabrics are made in Los Angeles. It makes California-inspired garments from jumpsuits to jackets and even has a secondhand shop so you can get your sustainable favorites at discounted prices. Lisa Hackwith is the woman behind Hackwith Design House, a slow fashion brand that incorporates sustainability principles like vertically integrated production and circular design in its operating model. With a background in studio art, it was the gift of a sewing machine from her mother that led Lisa to discover that her ideal medium was designing and making clothing. Each item is designed and produced in St. Paul, Minnesota by Lisa and her small team of seamstresses. It’s a really affordable way to start that is a little less intimidating.

Like Jetsetter readers, I love traveling and dreaming about future trips! This season’s collection, for example, was inspired by my packing techniques for a recent trip to Mallorca, Spain. I sought out fabrics that were breathable and would be comfortable in warm weather, and designed pieces I could envision myself wearing at the market or the beach but that I could also wear at home to dinner. Harvest & Mill makes organic clothing in a fully traceable supply chain that is ethical, sustainable, and 100% American.

On THE LOOKBOOK COLLAB (L)  I was really excited to get to use Coclico shoes for the summer lookbook because the lines and colorways really compliment HDH pieces. On top of the beautiful footwear, they're all made ethically and meant to last, which are both important values for us as well. She has such an incredible eye, and I am just thrilled with the results of our shoot. Why are you committed to keeping your entire business in St. Paul? Building a small business is such a huge undertaking, and it really helps to do it in a place that you feel comfortable in, a place where you have support.

Less is more, and as all good dramatists know, it's not so much what is revealed but that which is hinted at that packs the most powerful punch. Therefore, it's integral you allow for some empty or negative space in your eclectic design scheme. Eclectic decor by its very nature makes for some extremely busy interiors.

Mix, match and go for broke

Furthermore, its user-friendly home decor features are simple to understand and utilize. You can develop, different styles, designs, and even produce beautiful 3D worlds with only just one piece of software. It also has a catalog with over 50,000 render-ready, pre-modelled products. It provides actionable insights and makes use of real-time data to boost sales.

Materials Used With This Style

Instead, get creative with sculptures, tapestries, 3D-printed art, and even graffiti and murals. Acquire things with worn textures and finishes to give your area a sense of histories like Scandinavian or transitional 20th-century victorian antiques. You may mix pieces of furniture types to play up the eclectic aspect of this look because it focuses more on shape and material than a single design style interior.

What Is Eclectic Home Decor?

Here, neutral white acts as a blank canvas against which one may freely add, subtract, and easily see results. At Borisoff Design Studio, founder Lauren Borisoff and her team pursue stepping boldly and intentionally into the uncharted while tailoring every space to reflect the owner or resident. Incorporate Eclectic Interior Design Style into Your Home with Foyr Neo

According to Decor Aid, transforming your home into an eclectic decor wonderland takes a great eye and plenty of verve, but it's also playful, fun, and offers unlimited freedom. If you're feeling restless with your current decor, and yearn for a dramatic change, then perhaps it's time to leap headfirst and without a second thought into the potential and possibility of eclectic decor. The fun part of an eclectic room is that it allows you tastefully display your treasured knick-knacks. For a professionally-styled look choose items of varying heights, colors, and materials. Another great way to add interest to an eclectic space is to incorporate various textures. Don’t restrain yourself; feel free to use fur, velvet, leather, or even raw wood within your eclectic decor.

Eclectic décor typically includes vibrant colors and patterns, as well as surprising accents. Bring in bold hues and bright tones, and don't be afraid to mix and match contrasting colors. Forehand is a staunch proponent of Jonathan Adler's motto to surround ourselves with things we love, no matter their style. But such lawlessness can backfire without thoughtful curation of the things you own and those you're bringing in especially decorative items. By all means, display key objects you love, as Forehand says, "Sometimes, it’s fun to create spaces that push limits," but do so sparingly and deliberately, as was done within these artfully arranged built-ins.

You can always add and subtract from what you exhibit, depending on the reason or the season. Yes, the eclectic design style evokes a whole host of superlatives that belie its wily nature. Sure, it's a riotous juxtaposition of color and texture, old and new, and high and low—a study in contrasts that allows one's unique personality to shine and the freedom to think outside the box. But if you think this freewheeling style of decorating is an "anything goes" free-for-all, then think again.

Pack a punch and fill it with personality by mixing and matching textures and colors. Extraordinary eclectic rooms convey palpable balance and order; nothing looks out of place, rooms easily flow from one to the next, and even the most discordant items seem to coalesce. In this folksy living area, shades of blue are echoed throughout, the gallery wall consists wholly of framed works, and graphic throw pillows duly parallel the sofa's upholstery. "Repetition breeds comfort," says Forehand, who recommends mirroring a home's era, period details, and finishes in your chosen furniture and decor. Can a tiny footprint work with a magpie’s proclivity for collecting? It can if you’re designer William Cullum and his partner, Jeffrey Rhodes, whose New York studio is a maximalist’s dream.

The West Coast aesthetic is eclectic and often filled with bohemian touches, natural elements, exquisite vintage and antique furnishings, and plenty of bold art. Take a peek at the homes of some of the Golden State’s most stylish residents—tech moguls and Hollywood power players alike. Whether you choose bold patterns, eclectic artwork, or eye-catching textiles, the possibilities for infusing color and personality into your bedroom are endless. With a little bit of creativity and imagination, your bedroom can become a true expression of who you are and a place that you love to retreat to after a long day. When you try a new eclectic style, and don't like the outcome, don't give in to the temptation to change it right away. "Wait until the room is complete and live with it for a while," says Konig.

Her eclectic style has attracted many clients, including celebrities and high-profile executives around the world. Romanek Design Studio was founded by Brigette Romanek, one of the top interior designers in LA. Presenting fresh, exciting design concepts for the most discerning clients. Stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyoncé, Demi Moore, and Joe Jonas, just to name a few.

Grounding the style with a coherent mismatched color palette is important to mixing so many unexpected pieces. Classical, contemporary, minimalist and glamorous furniture designs are all mixed together in a glam eclectic setting. It’s just the perfect amount of goofy while remaining true to its roots in traditional influences.

But what happens if you want a design aesthetic that combines elements of all of them—and maybe more? Now you’re talking about eclectic style, a bit of a catch-all category to describe interiors that don't fit neatly into just one style. Wether it is pieces you’ve created yourself or some favorite finds from travels afar, display a collection of art on a gallery wall. Feel free to blend styles and mediums for the ultimate eclectic room decor. In conclusion, it’s all about displaying your personality in a place with eclectic interior design.

We also develop Connecter Suite to offer convenient shared workspaces and user management for teams of any scale. Is the industry-first platform focused on providing photorealistic 3d models of furniture, lighting and accessories by leading premium brands. For more than 10 years we’ve been helping thousands of architectural practices and visualization studios to produce high-end visualizations for demanding interior projects worldwide. With client-based access, Secure Client, installed on the user’s device, establishes a Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) tunnel to the Secure Connect cloud. Client-based access supports all ports and protocols, making it ideal for non-web-based apps or applications that require an agent or application to run on the end device.

Step Into the Time Machine at Calibre!

The solution integrates both client-based and clientless remote worker access, native Cisco Meraki® SD-WAN and Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela) connectivity, and comprehensive cloud-based security capabilities into one subscription. The 3D models purchased with a student discount can be used for non-commercial purposes only. The 3D Models for educational use may neither directly nor indirectly be used for commercial, professional, or other profit-oriented purposes.

The following explains the difference between client-based and clientless remote access solutions. Clientless access addresses situations where installing Secure Client on a remote user’s device might not be feasible or desirable. When the tunnel is active, the user’s traffic is routed through the Cloud Firewall, where network access policies can control access to private applications and resources. In addition, endpoint posture policies can be applied to ensure only compliant devices can connect to the network. Many architects and designers we collaborate with highly appreciate having high quality 3d models to work with. The team at Design Connected has always been very professional in terms of keeping deadlines, communication, etc.

For the Mets, the process with Nike started after the 2021 season. Nike issued a brief on what goes into a City Connect uniform, and Goldberg and Benesh filled out a 12-page questionnaire posing queries such as, “What does New York mean? ” Nike sent five design concepts based on the answers, and the team gave notes or directions to scrap whatever look altogether; five more designs would follow.

Connecter’s Version Control runs on most major cloud storages that you may already use. Alternatively, you can set it up on your NAS or even local shared folder. You aren’t gonna be locked to a costly proprietary storage without a way out. If we decide to produce the requested 3d models, you'll receive a confirmation email with the expected delivery date.

Today I rely heavily on Connecter and if there's one software that I really would recommend to anyone, it's this. We've been using Connecter for years, almost since its very beginning. It quickly became one pillar in our workflow since it has exactly what we needed from a content manager. Friendly use for our artists, boolean search and great performance handling thousands of assets for multiple users in our offices. Specially Connect Suite, which made our transition to home-office easy and seamless.

It is a reliable and flexible tool that supports our asset management in the most effective way. The support team has been extremely helpful at every phase and helped us overcome technical issues and challenges in record time. I can use Web Catalogs to visually browse our entire assets library to create and share with the team curated assets selections for our projects. Having a overview of the project pipeline saves me a lot time from swtiching between apps, and I feel more connected with the in-house team and their workflow.

It includes game-changing features like the Hybrid DAM, brand-new Maya integration, heavily requested USD & Alembic support. Moreover every instalation of Connecter comes with 5 of our premium 3D models — also for free. So it is up to you — download, explore, use, enjoy and of course share. None of them could really offer the universal solution that we, 3D designers and artists, were in such a desperate need of.

I can see details about how each of our team members uses the assets library. I receive comments from my team lead directly on the assets that I’m using in my day to day work. If you're in an urgent need of models for a project we might be able to offer you our MOD (Models-on-demand) service.

If you would like to know a bit more about my professional background please read on. This new feature allows everybody to stay in the loop and speeds up decision-making time. Instead of browsing countless directories and dealing with different file types, you can get everything organized and streamlined in a nifty interface.

We constructed Connecter based on our own professional experience, tailor-made for 3D artists and designers. Fortunately, today there is a great number of websites offering a wide range of good quality content — cars, people, furniture, etc. Every 3D artist and studio have a collection of at least a few thousands models by default. There are so many (both free and paid) resources that at the end of the day you do not really have a comprehensive overview of all the 3D stuff you have accumulated over the time. The question of how to manage huge data bases with 3D files practically did not exist until several years ago.

It's included in the 3ds Max scene where all models are arranged. The full package of materials, variants and file formats available for this product will be available at cgconnected.com after you purchase this set. In order to get it you need to create an account and send it in request via email. The award celebrates significant advancements in digital learning. The team, led by senior instructional designer Kim Estes, was recognized for its transformative contributions to digital education, particularly in artificial intelligence, accessibility and open education resources. I graduated from UCLAs graduate program in 2001 with a FIDER accredited certificate in Interior & Environmental Design.

The quality of their work is excellent and we look forward to work on several new projects in the future. Design Connected was started back in 2006 by two architects who wanted to bring more realism in the world of interior design 3d visualization. For the first time, I can actually work more like a real interior designer; picking, placing and replacing furniture and propping as any interior decorator would, but faster. I can now fully furnish and decorate a whole apartment in the matter of minutes or hours instead of days, and it's so convenient to be able to export and reuse all models I create. Upon approval, you will receive 50% off the price of all purchased 3d models at designconnected.com.

Are you tired of switching between apps just to read or add some remarks? You can do all this in Connecter on the assets in question without disturbing your workflow. The Feedback feature seamlessly integrates with the Version Control system to further boost your production tracking. The tool is powerful and complex but requires zero setup - select an asset, hit Feedback, and start commenting and drawing. I have full visibility over our assets libraries with detailed information about all changes done in the workspace by the team.

What Is UX Design? The Complete Guide

uix design

The Human Centered Design PhD at DePaul University prepares students to work in academia, government organization, and industry research labs such as IBM, Google, Lucent Technologies, and Motorola. Through advanced coursework, students will learn to design and conduct research studies; design human-centered experiences through research findings; and create experiences in a specific area. The program also explores academic and the process of reviewing literature. Arizona State University opened on Feb. 8, 1886 as Territorial Normal School (TNS)—the state’s first higher education institution.

UX Design — How Things Work

In short, UX and UI designers are the reason websites don’t look like they did in 2002. Virtually all big companies employ UI designers to create and maintain their web presence. Whether you’re a seasoned designer or just starting out, this step-by-step tutorial will give you valuable insights into the UI/UX design world. In this article, we’ll break down each stage of the design process, providing tips and best practices along the way.

Choosing between UX and UI

Q: What information is necessary for an UI design agency to start working a UX project?

uix design

The truth is, in the grand scheme of things, UI/UX are still relatively new fields—and, as already mentioned, they tend to be specific to the tech industry. Outside the worlds of design and tech, they’re not so widely understood despite being incredibly important for business. They’ll ask questions like “How can different color combinations be used to create contrast and enhance readability? While the UX designer maps out the journey, the UI designer focuses on all the details that make this journey possible. That’s not to say that UI design is all about looks; UI designers have a huge impact on whether or not a product is accessible and inclusive.

San Jose State University is accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The College of Humanities and the Arts and the College of Engineering at San Jose State University (San Jose State or SJSU) provide two graduate programs for students seeking careers in UX/UI/HCI. Options include the Master of Design (MDes) with a specialization in Experience Design (XD), and the Human Factors and Ergonomics MS (HFE MS). For the two-semester Capstone, students work in groups to conduct user research and prototype designs for real clients. This option allows students to gain valuable experience in project management, UX design, user research, and front-end development.

These are the UI UX design firms that have a high probability of becoming user experience companies. Credibility is all about the ui design company’s online profile and reputation. Because it cannot always be controlled, a simple Google search will reveal the extent to which a UX design organization has created an online presence. Additionally, it is a good idea to conduct background checks on personnel, contact corporate representatives, and ask questions. It is important to be aware that UX designers are not typically responsible for the visual design of a product. Rather, they focus on the user’s journey and how the product is structured to facilitate this journey. UX doesn’t only apply to websites, though–any product or service you come into contact with evokes a certain type of experience. While UX and UI developers primarily focus on website design, they’re also responsible for putting it all together. These tech professionals take ideas from the drawing board to reality, and every step in between. Color, features, content, and layout all make a massive difference in your takeaway.

PNYKA does a great job of explaining the intended use of the application, which is always a priority when marketing a niche product. Most people do not have previous experience with a similar application, requiring PNYKA to quickly explain the purpose of the product. ChimpQuote has one of the more effective UX design examples, enticing visitors with a free preview of their services before requesting additional information. When UX designers understand the value of researching their target demographic, they can implement features that appeal to potential customers.

Students in this program have access to many of the same courses as students in the MS program do. A company that focuses on crafting user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) designs for various digital products, such as websites and apps, is commonly known as a UI UX design company. Their primary goal is to ensure that the digital products they design are user-friendly and engaging for the intended audience. Once you have attained proper certification, you are finally ready to start your career in a digital design agency, and you have the right skills for it, it’s time to look for a job.

Every UX design consulting should have a portfolio of completed projects. It demonstrates experience, the industries in which a company has worked, and the level of quality you can expect if you choose to engage with this certain interaction design agency. Communication, critical thinking, and an interest in human psychology are all transferable skills that can help you succeed in a satisfying user experience career. Of course, any designer will require training in the job-specific design skills required, but those talents are easily reachable. User experience design is an excellent subject for job changers due to its acceptance of transferrable talents and a diverse range of life experiences.

Businesses employ UX designers from many educational and experience backgrounds, including sales and psychology. UX designers are human-oriented and focus on the needs and wants of website users. UX designers combine market research, product development, strategy, and design to create seamless user experiences for products, services, and processes. Applying for a UX writer role is an excellent option for those with a knack for creative writing. A UX writer must create written content for digital products to enhance the user experience.

Additionally, the grip itself swells slightly on each side for comfortable, hand-filling ergonomics. Our manufacturing partners must meet our rigorous and demanding requirements such as ISO 9001 for quality and consistency.Prometheus Design Werx always first begins with our local business community to select a manufacturing partner. There is a rich history and current availability of a wide variety of production, fabrication, and innovation centered in the Bay Area. From the former US Navy shipyards in our neighborhood, which saw their heyday during WWII, to the old school, modern machine, and fabrication shops that all sprung up in the area since the 1940s. There is also a new generation of growth in anything tech related, as we find ourselves in great company of the highest order. These instruments have a long storied history with adventurers and those intrepid men and women who have stepped into dangerous places. We have designed and created numerous next level accessories to customize your favorite tool watch.

When it comes to some of the coolest EDC items on the market, Prometheus Design Werx tops the list. Along with the typical EDC fare, the company also releases knives that have all the familiar hallmarks of quality as its other products. Alongside its compact yet utilitarian nature, another major part of what makes the OS3 so special is its sheath. Rather than opting for a custom-fitted KYDEX item, PDW has paired the OS3 with a stacked leather sheath. Made entirely by hand, the sheath sports a cleverly-designed backside that allows it to be securely mounted to a backpack’s shoulder strap — including PDW’s HAL1 Velcro straps — where it can be kept at the ready for rapid deployment.

Representing PDW’s second OTF model after the recently-released SPD Audax, the CAS is crafted around a 3.03″ handle that’s been precision-machined from aerospace-grade T6061 aluminum billet. In order to achieve its unique contoured shape, PDW has opted for a special CNCing technique that requires three times as much machining as regular milled handles. Prometheus Design Werx designs and crafts exceptional multi-purpose performance apparel, equipment, EDC tools, and accessories to outfit the self-reliant individual for uncommon adventures and challenges off and on the grid.

Every product we design and craft are ones we use ourselves everyday in the field or on the street.

The wisest of all Titans, the son of Iapetus and Themis, and brother to Atlas, Epimetheus, and Menoetius. From a collection of watch straps, all featuring titanium hardware, to the original Expedition Watch Band Compass Kit, which has set the high standard from beginning, and from where all others follow. We strive to create the finest quality products possible and require demanding, best quality standards, and processes. In the instances where we are unable to find an ideal match locally, we then circle outwards to other parts of our state, the West Coast, eastwards, and then globally. We keep our manufacturing within the USA whenever possible, and many of our core products are made here in our home state of California. Our primary top tier objectives are to design and produce the finest outdoor and adventure goods we can.

Made by hand in Idaho, the SPD Edition of the Sebenza 31 is being offered in two sizes. Tipping the scales at 4.7oz, the Large-spec packs a 3.61” blade and measures 8.40” when open, while the Small variant weighs in at 3oz, boasts a 2.99” blade, and spans 6.98” overall with its blade deployed. Like the regular Sebenza models, the SPD Edition retains the standard folder’s Reeve Integral Lock and ceramic ball (detent) interface, titanium pocket clip, and blue-anodized lanyard pin and single-sided thumb-stud. The top-shelf titanium handle is mated to a flat and hollow-ground drop point blade with a stone-wash finish that’s crafted from CPM S45VN — an ultra-premium blade steel born out of a collaboration between Crucible Industries and Chris Reeve.

Sporting a design that was inspired by 1980s fixed blade models, the OS3 is a compact pack and field knife that measures 8” overall. Boasting a thickness of 0.145”, the OS3’s blade is comprised of a flat-ground spear point item with an unsharpened upper swedge and a top-shelf CPM S35VN construction with a matte ceramic bead-peened finish. The OS3 also tips the scales at a svelte 3.7oz, making it ideal for everything from backpacking to survival use. Short for “California Special,” this truncated auto knife is a product of PDW’s Special Projects Division.

I then wanted to check the edge and see how it held up, so I cut up some corrugated cardboard. The edge was still sharp enough to slice up most of a large box without any issue. There were some points that it kind of tore, but I think it was more due to the box being hard to hold onto. Next, I whittled a quick try stick, performing different various reductions and notches. The clip point tip was perfect for prying out chunks of wood for finer detail work.

We learn from the past, look to the future, and build for today. With decades of experience in creating highly versatile, capable designs used worldwide in adventurous to dangerous places, Prometheus Design Werx is wilderness grade goods for the outsider. In June of 2019, 31 years after the debut of the original Sebenza, Chris Reeve Knives released the Sebenza 31 — an ultra-top-shelf folding knife that’s now widely viewed as the holy grail of premium everyday carry blades. Created by PDW’s Special Projects Division (or SPD), the Audax packs an American clip point blade that’s composed of ultra-top-shelf Böhler M390 — unequivocally one of the finest blade steels that money can buy. The blade is deployed using a knurled and ramped, double-action titanium thumb slider that’s been fitted with a dive watch-grade GITD inlay. The SPD Audax OTF Knife also boasts PDW’s signature handle and blade fullers. Taking its name from the Latin word for “bold,” the Audax is constructed around a grooved 6061-T6 aluminum handle that’s been fortified via a type III hard-anodized coating.

Since its inception in 2014, Prometheus Design Werx has consistently placed a premium on quality over quantity, delivering highly-calculated garments and gear that have been engineered to last a lifetime. And while the San Francisco-based outfit has previously produced a wide range of fixed blade and folding knives, PDW has now unveiled its first-ever out-the-front knife with the all-new SPD Audax. Featuring design inspiration from the Loveless Chute Knife, the SPD STS-B addresses the needs first brought forth by Harry Archer. Archer is the man who initially commissioned the chute knife concept to Loveless. He was looking for an all-around edged tool that could cut parachute lines, aid in wilderness survival, be used for personal safety/defense, etc. This homage to the legendary pattern puts Archer’s vision into a modern, highly detailed purpose driven framelock folder.

While many of the items on Etsy are handmade, you’ll also find craft supplies, digital items, and more. If Cinderella was shopping for new shoes, I’m guessing Mach & Mach’s iconic double bow pumps would be right up her alley. Jokes aside, these pumps lend themselves well to being invested in for a special occasion (like a wedding). But I dream of popping them on to roll up to my bodega. This, of course, has its good sides and bad sides, but that doesn’t change the fact that it caused genial and incontrovertible advancements in entertainment. This article unveils the process behind the personalized touch—handmade shoes lovingly stitched with individuality in mind, tailored to the millimeter of personality. I can buy into a trend and find it’s not worth the hype, or I can splurge on a pair of jeans only to hate the way they fit my curves, but shoes never disappoint. So, it’s only logical that investing in a pair of designer shoes is never a bad call. Of course, there are endless options of trendy heels and cool sneakers, so where does one even start? Ahead, I’m spilling what seven designer shoes are on my radar, based on which ones have reached cult status on Instagram and which shoe trends I’m betting will be big in the coming months.

Designer Shoes I'm Freaking Over, Plus 28 Affordable Pairs I'm Eyeing

It was only as I grew into my career as a fashion journalist, and unearthed my inner shoe gal that I discovered the power of statement stilettos. Is it even possible to round up dreamy designer shoes without including Amina Muaddi? Her heels have become beloved by the fashion set for their usage of colors, crystals, and other quirky elements. I can’t think of a better strappy sandal to invest in for spring as they lend themselves to being a sandal you can pull out for seasons to come. As a digital fashion editor, I log many hours a week hunting down the best of the best in online shopping and personally make most of my fashion purchases on the internet. That being said, there are some pieces I still love to try on in person before making the investment, including shoes.

This is another useful tip that helps you work like a pro, and gives you a clean surface to operate on. You can also get some newspaper or an old cloth the fill the inside while working, so that no glitter will reach the inner part of the shoe. Next, pour some mod podge in a clean plastic bowl, and stir the glitter inside it. If interested to design a fancy dress shoe, you can consider attaching brooches and pendants in the front part.

The super-soft upper and lightweight construction make these a no-brainer to pick up, while eight different colorways make these easy to pair with your style. Last but not least, the one pair of shoes I find myself obsessing over the most is Loewe’s Broken Egg Sandals. I should note that talking about these shoes is like walking on eggshells because I’m waiting for them to be restocked, and my partner continually tells me I don’t need them.

Shoes, when done right, can elevate and bring any outfit to life. The season’s revered off-white dress can take on a multitude of personalities when paired with MiuMui’s ballerina flat, Chloe’s Nama Trainers or Bottega Veneta’s strappy heel. The same idea applies to handbags. The addition of a raffia tote can transport a light-hued short suit to any coastal destination.
